Is Philippe Gilbert ready for Milan-San Remo ?

With a 17th place in the team time trial at Tirreno Adriatico, 58s behind the winner GreenEdge, team BMC, with team leader Cadel Evans, disappointed very much. At about halfway, Philippe Gilbert even had to let the team go.

Last year Gilbert was third in Milan - San Remo, behind winner Matthew Goss and Fabian Cancellara, after he attacked several times on the Poggio and in the last kilometers.

 

According to the BMC team management Gilbert was left behind for tactical reasons, but according to Dirk De Wolf (Lotto Belisol) there is more going on, "Gilbert never stays or is left behind if he is ok, never". The question therefore is : Is Philippe Gilbert ready for Milan - San Remo 2012 ?
