The town boasts archaeological sites of international renown, the Iberian settlement of El Cerro de la Cruz and the Roman Villa of El Ruedo. The value remains from both sites can be seen in the town’s historical museum whose insignia is the Roman bronze of Hypnos, the god of sleep. The town also has impressive natural surroundings, as well as tapas bars, restaurants and shops. Find out more about Almedinilla on the local tourism website.

Carcabuey welcomes its visitors under the walls of its castle. You can stroll through the old quarter and enjoy a range of churches, shrines and mansions.

IZNAJAR
Iznajar sits on the southern edge of the Subbetica Natural Park, overlooking the lake, Iznajar’s castle dominates the town. Today its keep, its cistern in the courtyard, part of the gate and the walls and crenellations are in a good state of repair.

PRIEGO DE CORDOBA
Originating in Moorish times, Priego has a wealth of Moorish elements remaining, including the Castle, Villa Quarter, and the Balcon de Adarve, a magnificent natural balcony. As the capital of Cordovan Baroque, Priego boasts many fine examples of the style such as the Monstrance of the Church of la Asuncion, Church of Aurora and Fuente del Rey fountain, with 3 pools and a statue of Neptune surrounded by 139 spouts.

ZUHEROS
Nestling in the foothills of the Sierras, Zuheros is the prettiest of the villages, with its famous tourist attraction of the Cueva de los Murcielagos cave, boasting beautiful stalactite and stalagmite formations. In its castle, you can still see the remains of the Rennaisance palace built with ashlars.

Spanish fiestas in Andalucia :

Spain is renowned for its fiestas, in fact there doesn’t seem to be a weekend in the summer months when you are not invited to a fiesta somewhere! Our own fiesta in Los Rios, includes two nights of dancing in our local square to a wonderful Spanish group, a free community paella down by the river on the Saturday and a great opportunity to experience a local fiesta in rural Spain.

The best time to visit for Spanish fiestas is during the summer months.
