Championships and Olympic Games

National and international championships take place in most of the cycling disciplines.

The Olympic Games take place each 4 years. The first edition of the Olympic Games was organized about 2.000 years ago. They were relaunched at the end of the 19th century, more precisely in 1896, when the Frenchman Baron de Coubertin convinced 22 countries to organize the modern version of the Olympic Games in Athens. Competition was held in the following "modern" disciplines :fencing, athletics, sailing, swimming, equestrian, gymnastics, shooting, rowing, tennis and ... cycling.  Nowadays, there are diffierent cycling disciplines that participate to the Olympic Games.
