Big climb!

A nice long climb that is never particularly steep, but goes one and on. I really felt the effects of the altitude near the top and the final few kilometres are very exposed to the wind - so keep something in reserve for the final section. I rode it on a typical weekday afternoon in summer and the road was reasonably busy with traffic - at the bottom (before the main highway forks off into the tunnel into Andorra) the road was especially busy.

A curious thing on the way up is when you stumble across Pas de la Casa - an apparently large ski town in the middle of nowhere after you have been climbing through empty fields for a lot of the way. It could serve as a good place to stop for a snack or lunch if you need it.
