From Le Tronchet, known for its Benedictine monastery from the 11th Century, we're heading for Dol de Bretagne, in descending direction. At km 18, we reach the coast in Le Vivier-sur-Mer. The legendary Mont-St-Michel is about 20 km to the right, and we will not get to see him given the slightly bending coastline.
We drive along the coastline for 7 km to St-Benoît-des-Ondes. As we drive back inland, after about 5 km the route starts to climb. After about 5 km we reach an altitude of 50 m, then we gradually start to descend and pass the village of Chateauneuf-d'Ille-et-Vilaine, with its magnificent castle ruins from the 11th century. The second climb starts at about km 42 and continues until the end.
