“Au Marchay“, is situated in a region known as the cradle of prehistory, less than one hour's drive from the world-famous painted cave of Lascaux and many other grottoes and prehistoric sites. Down the valleys of the Dordogne and the Vézère are dozens of medieval castles and close by lie the 13th century fortified towns of Monpazier,Monflanquin, Beaumont, Saint Avit Sénieur and other scenes of the Hundred Years War. A little further afield and you are in the true wine country of Saint-Émilion and Bordeaux itself.
