The Beginning

by reyno_buxworth on Friday 28 December 2012 13:32

So this is my attempt at keeping a written track of my exercise progress in 2012. I also use Endomondo as a way of logging my rides and runs. I am running the Silverstone half marathon and the plan is to see the TDF at Alpe D'Huez this year. I've only ever taken part in one mass participation event which was the Manchester Great Cycle in June 2012. A flat 26miles. I plan to take part in this again but the 52 mile version. The big challenge (apart from the half marathon) is to cycle Alpe D'Huez

This sparked from a conversation I had with relatives over Christmas. They were stunned I didn't plan to ride the climb seeing as I was going. This made me question why not? I will be there so why not do it the day after the Tour does it?

My dad is travelling with me but does not want to do the climb so it will most likely be a solo effort.

The question is can I do it?

This is a quite a challenge, but you still have some months before you to get in shape. On this site, there's also a nice article about getting in shape for a climb : "cycling training for a climb". I wish you lots of courage and success, and I'm looking forward to hear all about it on your blog !
