Camino del Cid

Despite the fact that Spain has no real tradition of cycling, the country enjoys an international cycling reputation for its famous "caminos" or routes, such as the Camino de Santiago and the Camino del Cid.

El Camino del Cid takes you along the historic route of the reconquista from Burgos to Valencia. Along this 500 km trip you'll discover many villages and historic towns - full of memories of this memorable period - where time literally stood still: The 10th century fortified town of Covarrubias, Santo Domingo de Silos with its famous Gregorian monastery, Caleruega, Berlanga del Duero, the Roman ruins of Clunia Sulpicia, through Gormaz with the largest Moorish fortress of the Iberian Peninsula, the nature of Alto Tajo, Molina de Aragon, Orea, Albarracin, with its imposing castle tower, and Teruel, famous for its mudejar architecture, to end up in the beautiful city of Valencia, the meeting point between traditional and contemporary Spain. The Camino del Cid can be done with the track bike or a mountain bike.
