Cycling in West Flanders

The Belgian province of West Flanders has the cyclist a lot to offer, thanks to its varied landscape. Lovers of endless cruising along the many canals and waterways will certainly get what they're looking for in the Bruges surrounding countryside. There, you'll find charming canals, like the Damme Canal, bordered by long rows of bending trees, that make the idyllic picture complete.

The Westhoek and the rolling Heuvelland - Hilly Land - (with its Kemmelberg) in the southwest of the province, provide a nice range of slopes for those who like to climb occasionally.

Be sure not to forget the beautiful historic towns of Bruges, Damme, Diksmuide ... known for their bicycle friendliness.

The West Flemish Lys region, with Kortrijk as main city, is a wonderful area to explore by bike.

Finally you have the complete Belgian Coastline, both the West Coast, with his war record, as the east coast, which can perfectly be visited by bicycle.

West Flanders has a very extensive bicycle network of numbered junctions.
