Cycling in the Meetjesland

The Meetjesland is situated between the northwest of Ghent and the Dutch border. The largest part of this region was reclaimed from the sea and is characterized by its unique creeks and polders in the north, and a more woody area in the southern part : a cycling paradize for the recreational mountain biker an cyclist. It is a very rural, agricultural region, which makes a bike ride there extra pleasant.

More in the south of this region you will find the Houtland (Woodland), with its woods, through which numerous watercourses continue their way to the creeks.

The Meetjesland is perfect for a bicycle trip with the family, and can be easily explored through the network of "Fietsknooppunten" (bicycle network of numbered junctions).

These junctions enable you to switch routes easily.
