Cycling in Salzburgerland

Recently, the region of Salzburg (Salzburgerland) has been gaining popularity amongst the cycling audience. And this is not a coincidence. There are quite a few reasons for this success :

The climbs and routes in this region of the Alps offer much more variety in length and height than the popular French Alps, which is largely appreciated amongst the less trained cyclist, or those who would like to discover the Alps by bike in family company. 



Since 10 years, you have the “Eddy Merckx Classic”, organized by the legend himself.

During the Summer of 2015 the city of Zell am See also organised the world championships triatlon, and this for the very first time in Europe. If you consider that in a triatlon the focus does not ly on the heaviness of the climbs, but on the variety of the course, this was the ideal setting for it. You can ride the entire cours along the low traffic roads iof the Hochkönig Mountains.

If you're in the neighboring and more crowded Pinzgau, you'll be able to cycle along traffic-free cycling route of the Tauernradweg in the valley.

In the region of Sell am See, even the cyclists who prefer a flat course, get what they're looking for ! At 30km of Mühlbach you'll be able to ride along the lake, or to cycle towards the beautiful village of Maria Alm (a bit less flat), surrounded by the setting of the beautiful mountain tops of Kaprun.

And of course, the picture wouldn't be complete without describing  the mountainbike scene! During Summer, the ski lifts remain open, so it's easy to get your mountain bike up there. The local tourist offices have elaborated and signposted some nice mountainbike circuits, in order to please each type of mountainbiker, regardless of their experience or skills.

And last but not least, the popularity of the e-mountainbike is also increasing enormously. It's not exceptional to meet mixed groups on your path. In this way, it's perfectly possible to meet with your friends or family to have lunch together in one of the many mountain huts, where you can enjoy the local specialties while the e-bikes are being recharged.


These assets turn the region into the ideal bike holiday destination, either in group or in a family context.
