Volta a Catalunya

The Volta Ciclista a Catalunya is a stage race that is ridden in the Catalonian region since 1911. After the Tour de France and the Giro d'Italia, it's the oldes stage race in the world.

Te spaniard Mariano Cañardo won the Volta 7 times, during the '20 and '30 of the last century.

The Volta knew a black day in its history during the 1999 edition, when the Spanish sprinter  Manuel Sanromà died.
