Tour of Basque Country

The Tour of Basque Country (in Spanish: Vuelta Ciclista al País Vasco, in Basque: Euskal Herriko txirrindulari itzulia ) is a multi-day bicycle race in the Spanish Basque Country.

Since 1924, the competition is organized annually, which makes it almost one of the oldest multi-day bicycle races. The Tour of Basque Country takes place in the week between the Tour of Flanders and Paris-Roubaix, in the first week of April.

Since 2005, the Tour of Basque Country is part of the UCI ProTour. From 2011 on, The Tour is part of the UCI World Tour.

Because the Tour is ridden in a hilly region, the race is normally won by climbers.

The Spaniard Jose Antonio González Linares, who won the race in the 70's four times, holds the record in terms of number of victories.
