If you're planning a trip of several days, you can put your luggage in cycle-bags that are fixed at the height of your wheels.
Pay attention on the following.

Make sure your cycle-bags are waterproof. A waterproof cyclebag is quite expensive. You can also pull waterproof covers over your cycle-bags.
Make sure your bags have minimal seams. Water will definitively infiltrate through the seams. Check that the inner seams are sealed properly.
To be sure you can also put your luggage in plastic bags.

There are several systems. Think of the convenience. After all, you will appreciate if you don't have to waste precious time to take off your bags after a tiring journey.

 

 

Content cycle-bags

Don't buy them too large, otherwise the content will slide, and you risk losing your balance. It also avoids the"luxury" problem of too much luggage. Divide the content as much as possible on both sides. The rear bags may have more weight. Here is 20 liters each OK. The front bags can be loaded up to 10 liters.
To avoid that your bags back are in the way, you can buy sloped back bags.

Handlebar bag

Handlebar bags are very useful when you are planning a day trip.
You can put extra clothes, your phone, camera, in it ...
You can slide your map in the plastic cover, which is very useful.

Please note that 10 liters is the maximum load for your handlebar bag.
Make sure that your handlebar bag and plastic cover are waterproof.

Cycle-bag between the bicycle frame

This type is less common. Make sure to buy them not too wide, otherwise they will hinder when riding.

Also check if your cycle-bags are not in the way of your lights and your brakes.

We advice to practice driving with cycle-bags before you leave on cycling trip. They can limit you considerably in speed and ability to manoeuvre.
