I climbed the passo fedaia from the caprile side several years ago. I am a experienced road biker and raced at the national level. I used a 39x27 an almost ripped my thighs off. the last3-4 km are brutal. not as bad as th mortirolo but painful.I recommend at least a 34x27(compact) or even better a 30x27(triple). always remember-unlike the alps, even the pros are not to proud to use very low gears in the dolomites.
